hey,just bought myself a 1999 v reg 2.0 hdi 110 (138,000 miles) and love it,had a xantia 2.1td a few years back and enjoyed that but this is much better.have just parted company with a nissan primera petrol that gave us no end of problems so am looking forward to a whole host of new problems with the pug .
the only thing i have had to do to it was change the bulbs in the multifunction display unit as it was blank but now working fully thanks to a search on here but a bit dissapointed that it only displays the radio/date/outside temp and does not do the mpg etc but i guess you cant have everything.
only one question for you guys is after reading the forum about dmf`s on the d9 i have started to get a jittery sphincter wondering what model it is that i have,my clutch does not slip at all but the pedal seems to bite high compared to my wifes toyota carina but apart from that i am enjoying driving past the fuel stations and giving the V sign to the cashier so is mine a d8 or d9 ?.

If your car is a 110bhp 2,0 hdi facelift model, you´ll have a dmf in your car...
But do not fear, my brother-in-law drives a car such as yours, registered the same year. It´s got little over 300 000km behind, and the original clutch still works well and there´s no slippin´whatsoever...
What model is it, likely it won't have the trip computer if its a LX at that age.
Its a D9 (aka facelift by the way). Generally the DMF don't pack up, as such, on the 406 they just were out but the car still drives, unlike the 307 were you just loose drive. get some juddering, squeaking, and clutch slip*, but that it, mine made it to about 148k before it went/i replaced it. was pretty shot.
*best test is to find a dual carriage way do about 60 in 5th gear, then put the foot flat to the floor. If its shot the clutch will slip slightly. Mine never had slip apart from when i did that.
cheers for that,it`s the glx model..should it have the mpg etc function as the end of the wiper stalk does not seem to push in so thought it just had the basic function one fitted to it.thanks.
