I love my 406 despite its problems!

Post by Asty »

Thought I'd better join the fellow 406 drivers after downsizing or should I say downgrading from my 206hdi.
An extra mouth to feed and extra luggage to carry meant a bigger car was needed!
I bought an R reg 1.9TD with 81k on clock & full tank of diesel ( although I do suspect it was cooking oil from the smell)
for £700. Full Mot. Pretty mint too! That was a year & a half ago.
Although she has now developed some problems, I still love the car! She's big and sooo comfy, always starts,ok she's a bit slow but once she's going she flies! I would have liked the hdi engine but lack of funds at the time meant I had no choice!
I now need to decide weather to go and buy a newer hdi or do I get her fixed up and keep her?
I do suspect it might well be cheaper to buy a new one.
Does anybody know if I could get a set of 17's on her? They are the ones I kept from my 206.

Hi Asty, welcome to the club 8)

Right I suspect that the wheels won't go, no problem with the diameter and IIRC the PDC is the same, but I'm pretty sure that the offset is different and I can't remember which way. You might be able to get spacers to make them fit but, at the risk of being flamed, I don't like spacers and wouldn't recommend them.

Greetings fellow victim :cheesy:

From here
206 98> PCD 4x108 Offset 20 to 25 Bore 65.1
406/406 Coupe 95> 4x108 15 to 25 65.1

That looks like a possible to me, you could always try them

for 206 fitment wheels you will need 20mm spacers. I had the same problem and went out buying big expensive 1's but its all good...the wheels are on lol
