Hi

Post by plod »

Hi, new to the site

Got a 406 HDi 110 GLX saloon with remapped ECU to 140bhp, running on 17's

Had the car for 2 years now, with very little problems. Fitted new discs to rear, and pads all round. Fitted new cam belt, tensioners etc 1,000 miles ago, and had to fit 4 new 215/45/17's, and one horizontal rear link in all that time.

However, got in car earlier, and heard clunk underneath me, and when pulled off the right front of seat lifts up. On closer inspection, the subframe has snapped. Googled it on t'internet, and apparently sounds like a common problem. Tried searching on here, but can't find any info.

Is there a better subframe to use? Or is there a good place to pick one up without costing the earth? Could get a mate to weld it up, but is it worth it?

Suggestions welcome :D

Hi there. Do you mean the frame under the seat or the frame inside the seat base? There was someone on here had the seat base break, which rather involves the tricky business of taking the cover off. Either way, you should be able to weld it up, I did a base on an Ashtray once, the guy who was driving it weighed about 20 stone and it had been bodged up before but when I'd finished with it it was good enough for a small elephant.

In a way he's right, if the sun shines on them then they'll burn your legs just like vinyl, you have to look after them too. In the winter though there's seat heaters...

Been looking around for the levver but not much luck, so mate of mine welded my seat up today. Only took him 15mins to have seat out, welded up and back in my car.

They're not that bad tbh. They may be freezing in the winter, but the heating element soon gives you a nice toasty arse. In the summer they're hot but not too hot, unlike the steering wheel. The best thing about them is during the summer you don't have your sweat soaking into the seats 8)
