Possible owner

Post by rudymanz »

Hi my names Ant and I currently own a twin-V6 406 coupe. I'm on the verge of buying a 406 estate 2.0 HDI 110bhp as my economical car. Is there anything I should look out for when viewing it? I've read things about the DMF going; is there anyway you can tell if its on its way out or not, and also, how much does a soild flywheel typically cost (the car already has a brand new clutch)?

Thanks
Ant

It's the coupe club invasion!!! The estate doesn't have anything specific to look out for, just the usual 406 problem areas.

Hello Ant & Welcome 8)

I've heard that a failing DMF shows up as more vibration when idling and 'snatchyness' when coming on & off the gas.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Seems to be standard practice, I gather they don't last much longer and it's a wise precaution.
