I have a problem with my front passenger door. Its had an intermittent fault for a while where it will not open with the central locking or where it will not lock and the central locking will do the 'lock/open' thing as if a door was open.
Today my dad replaced the locks (both doors and the boot) which i had to change when my ignition cylinder broke a few months ago (had been using the remote locking only since then). Then later on we decided to take the door panel off again and look at this intermittent fault. We sprayed some WD40 into where the solenoid is and then realised that the exterior handle didn't actually seem to have any linkage to the latch. We tried the handle and it wouldn't work and then we spent a hour trying to work out how the hell the handle could be linked to the latch at all.
All we can think of to do next is strip down the drivers door and have a look at that handle, but dose anyone here have any insights? How is the handle linked to the latch and what might cause the fault in the central locking mechanism?
