Foggy fog light

My car passed the Mot today, the sailed through with no problems, only issue was that the tester told me to turn the lights on, then to do the windscreen wash all while he was standing right in front of the car, and any exec owners will know what happens there the headlight washers popped up and soaked him and he shouted F**K another tester said WHAT, and he shouted THIS BASTIDNG THING HAS THEM WINDSCREEN WASHERS IN THE LIGHTS. But anyhow i noticed a problem when i got home, the left light and fog light were misted up, so out came the headlight and i disconnected all the bulbs, and hairdried at it for 10mins all the mist was gone, but i couldnt get the fog light out, a screw at the top was inaccessable, so i took the bulb out and used the hairdryer and still no luck. So really it needs to come out, how can i get access to that top screw or is there a better way to demist the front fogs.

Two real options. You either live with it or it has to come out. Changed one of mine last year via the hole in the wheel arch lining. Taking the front wheel off helps lots. It is a bit of a fiddle but do-able. Then dry the light in the airing cupboard. They are about £25 from the factors.

The full wheel arch lining, i only took it half off and then got my head in, ill get the wheels off and do it, probably will be much easier to get it out, once i have it out i intend to use rice which is good at drying out phones, just pouring it in through the bulb hole, letting it sit and that will do, but what causes the steam to get in, is there any way to prevent it coming back.

Gets a lot of spray and splashing hammering the light and water has a way of finding the smallest holes and getting in. Like the rice idea, should work. I feel that any serious attempt at waterproofing will need the light to come out. Be good to hear how you get on.

its good you said he didnt pick a small fault to fail me on, because this was the light test done, and he got into the car and sent me to the seating area, i seen the car get up on the big shakey machine and he put the car into the sidelights mode because he didnt know how to turn off the auto lights, so anyhow the sidelights were on the shaker and after a bit of shaking the passenger light turned off, thankfully it wasnt noticed, and i have taken the connector out and checked and tightned it all up so the problem wont come back.

I didn't even know how to turn the auto lights off! Tried pressing the end button on the stalk to no avail. Luckily he didn't notice / care.

Remember I had the Xantia, after the shaky machine the suspension went into lowest mode. It took it a couple of minutes to raise itself, was a bit embarassing as the next test car was right there (you know yourself, they seem to be like an assembly line).

Luckilly i got a nice and quiet time Midday on Saturday, so i had a Berlingo or Partner behind me and the owner was in no rush he was telling me about how he was failed on baldie tyres

Was he chancing his arm? Usually one of the easiest things to check before an MOT. Tyre condition, lights, wipers etc.
