rear door wont open

2001 406 estate rear nearside door is locked shut operating the central locking and also operating the manual lock inside wont unlock it, any ideas how I can get it open please

I'm afraid it looks like you're going to have to get the door card off and attack the lock with a hammer viewtopic.php?f=28&t=25051&p=250768&hil ... en#p250768

It might be worth a try soaking the lock itself in WD once you get the door card off, maybe giving it a few pre-emptive strikes with a hammer and trying one last time, it might get the massage...

You can remove the door card with the door closed - just.

If you have an extra pair of hands, get them to repeatedly lock/unlock the doors while you gently* thump the rear door in the area of the lock - it might jar it into life.
