Stone chips Ahoy! have you got more than this?

Discuss the 406's Bodywork stuff in here (what parts fit what, what can be interchanged with what etc etc).

Stone chips Ahoy! have you got more than this?

Post by Welly »

I waxed me Bonnet and noticed just how many chips there were

The whole bonnet is peppered with little chips, I don't think it was this bad when I bought the car 18 months ago, looks like it's still the original paint though.

How bad is yours?

Yep just as bad if not worse. You don't see them until you start washing/waxing/polishing the car... So moral of the story is: don't polish :P

My old saloon had much more than that (131k on it when I got it), but it didn't bother me after a while.

stone chips

Post by muffindell »

You should see my front spoiler, it's not so much stone chipped but more like it's been sand blasted. The laquer doesn't shine anymore, it depresses me every time I clean the car. I was wondering if I sprayed it with a clear varnish if it would improve the way it looks or just make things worse?

Could be, although it was nasty when I bought the car. So bad in fact that shortly after buying it I decided to get the windscreen replaced because it was so chipped it was actually opaque in direct sunlight!

I got more scratches over my car than paint chips, and I put it down to the kids on my street little fuckers!

Yeah my China Blue car was pretty obvious with the stone chips as they show up white on the paintwork!!!

Was originally a country car so it was kinda expected to be honest - can be quite a bit of loose gravel on some of the more rural roads around here, suppose its the same for you guys over there as well.

Don't have them anymore though, front got a respray when I ran up the back of someone!
