Ignorance Alert!!!

Post by eoin27 »

Three stupid things to ask please

1. What is the BSI? Is it another term for the ECU??

2. I pulled of all the mouldings off my car to put them on my new 406 (the one's with chrome inserts are nicer), I appear to have broken allthe little clips when I took them off. Can I glue them back on to the body for the other car? Has anyone done something like this?

3. Can the climate control be put into a car that doesnt have it?

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid answers, so here are my efforts.....

1, BSI is the "Body Systems Interface" (or "Built-in Systems Interface" depending on who you listen to  ). It's essentially a separate ECU that controls all the "non-essential" electrical systems on the car such as lights, wipers, central locking, warning systems etc. It's not the same thing as the engine ECU. (I love the way they say "non-essential" like they don't matter, but you wouldn't get very far without lights or wipers on a rainy night would you?).

2, If I'm thinking of the right ones, the trim clips cost pennies and can be picked up from any main stealer.

3, Anything's possible, but I'd imaging trying to retro fit climate contol would be, shall we say errrrm, not cost effective. :?

Thanks. Where is it? Can you connect through the diagnostics port like the ECU

Excellent! That means I won't ruin it with superglue
