406 Grill, Lights Retrofit.

Discuss the 406's Bodywork stuff in here (what parts fit what, what can be interchanged with what etc etc).

406 Grill, Lights Retrofit.

Post by johnny406 »

I want to make my 1997 406 GLX a little more well appealing ;)
Does anyone know if it is possible to put the facelifted grill and headlights on the pre-facelift model.
The clear lenses look alot more modern and sharper in my opinion, plus Hids would look better IMHO so anyone tried or know of it?
What work is involved? bulbs and connectors all the same?
Replies appricated, thanks :)

Not happening.

There's been plenty of threads on this before, it basically boils down to a new grille, light clusters, bumper, wings and probably a load of other stuff
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

...bonnet, slam panel, front panel, I'm not sure about the wings but, of so, probably inner wings too.

I'd love to do this myself but I've no idea how much you'd actually need to change. I was hoping someone else would give it a go first. Hold on a mo...

No no no, it's an easy job, let us know how you get on (and how much of the car in front of the windscreen you get to keep :cheesy: )

Any idea where they do aftermarket lights or grills for the D8 406, to freshen it up. Wouldn't mind a chrome affair mesh grill or some clear angel eyes or something. Any suggestions?

No-one really does anything for the 406 as there's not much call for it :|

They do look a lot different with a de-badged grill, although I think that rather involves 2kg of body filler...

That's because the average 406 owner is endowed with something called 'taste' and doesn't feel the need to make their 406 look like it belongs to a 17 year old wispy bearded asian lad with a suede jacket and fake Rolex.
