saloon roofbars

Here is a tester for all you folks, i bought a set of halfords roofbars of ebay for my D9 406, when i came to fit them the holes on the roofbar fixings do not line up to the holes in the 406 under the seal. The 2 holes on the brackets are 20mm centre to centre but the holes on my 406 are 45mm centre to centre. The only thing i can think of is maybe the older D8 406 holes for the roofbars were 20mm centres and this is the roofbars i have got. Can anyone be kind enough with the D8 406 saloon to go out and measure the distance between the holes ...Thanks Colin

I just had a look at the roof parts diagrams on Service Box and they're the same parts D8 & 9, however the bit where you can see all the accessories like roof bars seems to be missing
