d9 drivers rear door

Post by gashead1968 »

Hi All,

The only problem i have now with my d9 2000 lx 406 is rust on bottom of the rear door, plenty of 406's in local scrap yard with good doors, but the question is are all 406 doors from 1995 to 2004 the same?? will it be an ease swap or do i need to find one from the same year??

Many thanks

Paul

I think the shape will be the same between the D8 (pre-1999, mark 1 model) and D9 (1999 onwards, face-lifted model) cars.

However, the trim on the door is different between D8 and D9, both inside and out. You'd need to swap the door card over, for the inside, but I'm not sure how easy it would be (or even if it's possible) to move the trim from the D9 door to the D8.

Best bet would be to find a door from a D9.

If it's not the right colour, you could get it resprayed to match your car (though this could be expensive). Otherwise, keep looking around other scrappies for a door that is the same style and colour as the one you're replacing it with.

If it is anything like a Monaco Blue KMWC door, scrap yards will either go "yea we have a blue one" and it is the dark blue / China blue, or will act uninterested once you mention you are looking a specific colour.

I was thinking that you should look for one that has the same electric windows etc. spec otherwise it may be tricky to swap over the motors? That's what I was hoping for.

Good luck! I ended up sanding mine down, putting rust treating primer on, and respraying with 2 sprays that do not match the colour (1 from Peugeot  ) - see my "Monaco Blue" thread.
