Its in the bodywork section because the bodywork was damaged and there isnt an Ive Been An Idiot and Wrecked My 406 section (though there should be!)

Not wanting to depress you any more than necessary.........but...........I personally would have fought that one out, I know you're young and don't need the hassle and bad record on your insurance,
but unless you were driving like a complete tw@t, and you had stayed in your lane as you have shown on the sketch, I reckon it was the Gitz drivers lack of observation as he was coming from the inside(therefore outside lane of a road??) lane of the roundabout and seems to have gone straight over to the inside lane of the road, he has crossed more white paint than you, he should be looking.

Now you have to take into account I live in Poland now and the driving here is bloody awful and may have warped my perception of what's right but that's the way I see it,
it would be good if a few other people could give their views on this, you never know it might turn out as "I've had a crash with an Arse!"

probably not going to help you financially but for your own peace of mind and confidence behind the wheel would be good to know if it was 50/50 or not.

I've said the same in the other thread, it's Socky's car they should be fixing (on the other guy's insurance).

this seems to be the opinion of several facebook friends, as the contact didnt occur on the roundabout, it occurred as we came onto the dual carriageway afterwards, it was his lack of observation

If it all works out the only cost to you will be the excess when you collect the car from the bodyshop (which'll get refunded in due course) probably a lot less than fixing the car yourself.

paid £55 for a front door, been quoted £160 for the rest of the car for spraying, buffing and whatnot.

See my reply in your other thread, fella. You're in the clear on this one, he shouldn't have been trying to occupy the same space your 406 was in, because he exited a roundabout onto the left lane of a dual carriageway when it wasn't clear or safe for him to do so.

You shouldn't be paying for the repairs to your car; the accident was his fault. Even if neither of you wanted to involve insurance, which I can totally understand, he should have forked out for the cost of the repairs to your car. If his "car" was in worse shape, then that's his problem, not yours, and he should still pay for your repairs regardless what he wants to do to get his fixed (claim/repair through insurance, or repair independently).

I agree that, from your side of the story anyway, it looks like you are actually not at fault! The Getz driver should not be driving into the side of you, it shows basic lack of observation!

A similar roundabout near my old house (M5 / A2 Hazelbank junction) actually ended up hatching off the 2 lanes towards the right on the roundabout to prevent this, traffic from bottom turning to top right was forced onto the outside lane, where then they would indicate and move left when clear.

Any case, from previous experience of people trying to weasel out of it, I would have gotten the police called out (witnesses never stop to give details) and went through insurance.

This is an exact repeat of an accident that my wife had in her 406, we have a roundabout identical to this near us.
The chap in a Suzuki Vitara came across and swiped the front end...didn't stop, but she got his number, coppers (useless, couldn't care less gits) refused to take any action against the other driver....all we got was "It's up to you to claim off your insurance" when I complained that the other guy had committed traffic offences, they said if you don't like it complain to the Police Complaints Authorities.

The result of the insurance claim against the other driver?....knock for knock 50/50 on blame, that was Direct Line.
