Thank you very much. Now I'm faced with the moral dilema of whether to spend money on something I don't really need just so that I can claim another tick on the spec sheet

I've coloured them red in the last pic 'cos they dont show black on black at that distance. Best bit is all the bumpers seem to be black in that area.[/quote]

Did you fit all 4 sensors or just 2??

There are 4 in the kit and it won't work properly unless you fit them all equi-distant, see red dots on pic.

A cheaper solution would not to have a missus who can't park... come to think of it, any missus :P

I have got the genuine peugeot parking sensor fitted, i had tried the 4 individual sensors but found them rubbish, so i got another bumper off ebay of the same colour, and a few months later, spotted genuine sensors on ebay, i had to remove the bumper and the kit has a length of special foil which wraps around the length of the bumper and a small junction box then sticks to the side of the bumper where the foil gets connected to, and the box has a speaker to plug in along with a positive & neutral wire, the positive wire gets wired into the reverse wire on the tail light cluster and then refit the bumper and speaker goes into the carwhere it can be heard and not in the boot, i have it located near a rear seat belt, it can sometimes pick things up which i would not expect but it does do the job i have now had it in for 2 years plus. I have a rapier saloon.

So are we saying the ebay 'Park it Right' system is good or indifferent?

I am becoming increasingly interested in a set for my saloon and shall be looking into the practicalities of where to fit them at the weekend. For 30 notes they'll be a nice addition to the car (if they work properly).

It looks extremely easy to install. I think the hardest part will be feeding the wires from the bumper to the rear light clusters. But even then thats not a major problem.

I saw the shoddy ones with the LED displays and also wondered how it would work, but this one seems pretty much straight forward. Plug it all in and power it from your reserse lights, and if you want to you could also have a digital display according to the listing.

I may invest in something like this!! I found the 406 Estate was easier to park them my saloon. The mirrors seem to make things appear closer then they are, so I end up moving the car back a tiny bit at a time until I give up or hear a clump.

It seems the parcel shelf and boot line are high on the saloon (compared to others) an this seems to mask your rearwards view.

I am definately getting the audio ones if someone says this kit is good. I don't think you would want to watch some LED's really as you may still be looking back etc. I think I would mount the speaker thing under the rear shelf near the stereo speakers as I allways turn off the music for parking anyway.

Nah it's pretty much the same height on the estate. The difference is the glass is right at the back of the estate so you know where your arse is. With the saloon you've got a boot to consider but you just can't see where the end of it is

Tempted to get one of those stick-on mobile phone aerials (won't bother to wire it up or anything) and slap it on the rear of the bootlid so I have a point of reference to work to when reversing.

Why not just get these sensors?

(then you can tell me if they're any good)
