Surely it's seriously unsafe to put that back on the road? I mean, you can do all the bodywork up sure, but what about all the structurally critical hidden bits which are carefully designed to deform in a crash? A 30mph crash in a repaired one could result in a razor sharp lump of metal being thrust straight into you...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

STOP STOP STOP mjb - It's Croatia he's talking about - since when did anyone over there make a fuss of those things of which you speak?

If it's your turn to die horribly in a mangled crash then it's your turn, ok?

Apparently the driver fell out and was uninjured!
Over here the lightest 'tap' will right off anythng worth less than £3,000.00 :frown:
I saw a guy repairing the rust on a mk1 Ashtray once, then respraying it so it looked like new! it's a whole different mentality!
What do you mean by 'registering' the D8?
Bureaucracy rules! Something that has to be done every year (or they take the numberplates away) Basically, it's an MOT (or equivilent thereto) insurance and tax, all at the same time (that's why it takes a whole day). It'll set me back about 400 quid though :( . The man says it'll make about a 1,000 Eurine difference to what I get for it.
I've seen those anti-chip areas - it looks like a transfer under the paint? unless it's factory applied thick soft paint?
Your guess is as good as mine!

I don't think they care, you must have some idea by how much I critisize their awful driving. Life is cheap, safety isn't much of an issue. I've met so many people missing a digit or two...

Btw cars with the cheapest parts in Croatia: FIAT (yuk!)

As I already said on here somewhere, it's a national passtime! The second time I was over here I helped lift a drunk's Renault 4 out of a ditch. The fool could hardly stand up.

This was all over the news when it happened. It's not such good footage (can't find a better version tho). There's a mother and two kids in the car, no-one wanted to let her out, then the guy in the lorry was half asleep and ploughed into the back of the other truck like the car wasn't there. As far as I remember they did the guy for manslaughter, his lorry had about 10 bald tyres on it too.

Just for you steve were with you in spirit :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

"I Wanna Dig"

(chorus twice)
Yoooo, I'll tell ya what I want, what I really, really want.
Soooo, tell me what you want, what you really, really want.
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, really, really, really, really
dig, dig, dig.

So get the shovel, forget your hands,
if you wanna dig with me you'd better do it fast.

Now don't go wasting my precious time,
just get those soil samples and we'll be just fine.

(repeat chorus)

If you wanna be my partner, get down and dig,
We'll be doing this forever, so you'd better make it quick.
If you wanna be my partner you have got to dig,
digging's not too easy, but that's the way it is.

So, what you think about that now you know how it feels.
Collect those soil samples, how wet does it feel?

(repeat chorus)

Get your shovels down, dig all around.
Get your shovels down, dig all around.
Dig, dig, dig
Get your shovels down, dig all around.
Dig, dig, dig
If you wanna be my partner!
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron
