Here lies the wreck of my poor old D9,
on the BSI some French gremilins did dine.

I'm pooped. I was digging holes for fence posts so I only had to move some of the soil. And what did I find? First thought: "Bugger me, that's a big worm!" Second thought: "IT'S A FKUCING SNAKE!!!!!!" Nothing dangerous, apparently.

Update: I was meant to be handing the D9 to the garage today but it's my other half's birthday and she managed to get the day off (queue 5 hours being dragged round clothes shops wearing a happy smile). Anyway, I was washing the car last night and I suddenly remembered the main reason why I hadn't registered the D8 before (besides cost of course), it's the same reason my D9 sat in my garage for 3 months before I started driving it. I have to renew my permit to be here every September and the stupid arseholes tie my car registration to this, I can pay for a years insurance etc. but they'll only register my car 'til September. And to re-register it in September everything needs to be valid for 12 months. So basically, if I registered it tomorrow I'd be flushing 8 months insurance, tax and MOT down the toilet. Great.

But all this is by the by as I got a letter from the guys insurance co. today, they got my documents ok but they're not paying for the repair because the Audi driving bumhole piece of doodoo hasn't put any documents in himself and, as far as they're concerned, I can p!ss off. Obviously the paperwork he filled out at the scene with his signature at the bottom isn't worth a bean.

My other half just phoned her mate who works for another insurance co and it seem that, if we didn't call the police at the time (and the probablility is they wouldn't have even bothered coming) they won't be interested and we have to rely on his honesty to come forward to his insurance co and put his hand up to it.

You couldn't make this sh!t up.

I am really, really fed up with it. This bollocks is par for the course. The only thing that's keeping me going now is wondering whether it'll be my baseball bat, pickaxe, sledgehammer or axe I'll be taking to his car. I just wish I was better friends with the guy who runs the JCBs.

Stop press: He's put his hand up to it, head office jumped the gun, there was two bank holidays inbetween and they didn't get his stuff from the town where he lives to head office in time.

But the fact remains, this guy could have stiffed me and the only way I could have got to him would have been to take him to court. My experience of UK courts is reality doesn't make it through the door and don't bother telling the truth, I'd think they're even worse here.

Next time (make no mistake, the way they drive here there will be a next time) we're calling the cops, if they don't bother to show up at least we'll have tried and we'll grab some witnesses, the more the merrier. Oh, and take 10 times as many pictures.

Nah, too easy to fix!

Now all I have to do is wait for the insurance's estimate and if I think it's enough they'll stick it in my bank but if I don't think it's enough I have to wait for the guy to repair it and then they'll give me the cost of the repair which I'll then give to him and... Mrs. Hardy: Do you mean to say that the money he gave to you that you gave to him that he gave to me was the same money that I gave to him to pay him?
