saloon rear spoiler

did the saloons come with a rear spoiler from the factory.

my car has one and i have never seen another 406 with the same one on.....

saying that... i have never seen any 406 with a spoiler fitted that wasn't the ally racing type

Peugeot made spoilers as an optional extra, but they were never standard on any model. Not many takers either

I can't make my mind up whether to leave mine without, go for one of those copies of the peugeot optional one, or go for one of those little lip spoilers

when i broke an exec with chaz off here it had a peougot factory fitted spoiler on ( i have it ) the exec boot had specific holes in the strengthening bars on boot , where as my boot has no pop marks or no way of knowing where to drill the holes for it , other than putting bluetack or something where the bolts go to mark drill holes or something simmilar ,just aint bothered fitting it yet as it needs painting . and there is another 406 in next road to me that has same spoiler on so presume at some point they where an extra or on high spec models.

My 406 has the official spoiler. It didn't when I bought it. I bought a genuine Peugeot spoiler, having looked up the part number in the official 406 Accessories guide and checked around for them.

They turn up on eBay from time to time, check back regularly.

You'll need to get it painted to match your bodywork, as they are sold just with a coating of primer.

There's no drilling involved; the spoiler sticks to the top of the saloon's boot lid with self-adhesive rubber pads (one at either end), and it clamps over the edge of the boot lid with a couple of screws (you have to stick on some clear plastic tape strips to protect your paintwork from the metal of the clamps). Everything you need is included in the kit, with the exception of a screwdriver.

The instructions supplied in the kit are clear pictorial instructions, and are easy to follow.

Bloody should be, too - Peugeot were charging hundreds of pounds for these. I bought mine for under £50 from a forum member, and got it professionally painted for £70 from a local body shop. I then needed a friend to help me fit it, otherwise it would just be fiddly.

The end result? Looks lovely. I will be taking fresh photos of the car when it's clean and I'll post them up. Been meaning to get around to this for a while

Mine is definitely bolted to the boot, I know this because 3 of the nuts are missing so the passenger side can be moved around at the moment (and someone has done and put a nice scratch across the middle of the boot )

the one i have was definatly factory fitted as it had 4 allen bolts with tube spacers inside the box section strengtheners and had 2 pozzi drive screws as well as the bolts , without a doubt factory fitted as all the holes the bolts and screws came out of where pre fabricated in manufacture of the boot not an after thought ill go get some photos of it .

Pozidrive screws? I don't think Peugeot have ever used them. The only ones I can think of are in the stereo, cd changer and amplifiers, which were made by JVC, Philips, Clarion etc

on the curled end of the spoiler on the point/corner that points toward front of car there was a phillips/pozzidrive screw on each side as the spoiler is only about 3/4 inch thick at that point .

just had another look i dont have the screws that came off the spoiler but it is possible they where slpine or hex drive

i have a genuine spoiler fitted to mine and it takes 5 hex bolts two on each end and one of the middle support i bought a second hand one for £20 off a fella breaking a 2000 LX HDI. when i bought my car the spoiler was slightly bent, there are pictures on here somewhere i painted this one myself 3 tins of halfords china blue spray, 2 laquer sprays and some fine sandpaper its all finished and done and looks the nuts! but i am just dreading fitting it to the car as getting it off the donor car was a total pig of a job, lots of WD40 andf brute force i think the one that clamps to the edges was the slighty more rounded one with no centre support
