Instrument Cluster

Post by fuvureju »

I am looking into replacing my 4 dial Instrument Cluster (Fuel Guage, Rev Counter, Speedo, Water temp) with a 5 dial one wich inclyudes the oil guage.

I have a Peugeot 406 1.9TD 1996.

How do I correct the mileage?
Are there any other catches of which I am probably unaware?

Thanks

Not too sure about the fitting but to avoid increasing the mileage you
need to fit a new set of clocks , that way 2 mileages are not added together.
(if you have a 5 dial casing i have a new 5 dial set of instruments , pm me if interested )
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

The mileage is stored in the clocks, so you'd need somebody who knows how the fiddle the settings. Not really worth it on something like a 406.

Once you've got the 5 gauge clocks fitted, you'll need to find an oil sensor from somebody who is breaking a car, the yellow plug for it is hanging down behind your inlet manifold.

I don't absolutely know this for a fact, but I believe the adding mileages together phenomenon is a D9 / BSI thing - may well be OK with a D8.

As Stevieboy says the mileage is stored in the pcb on the clocks, so unless PP2000 allows you to alter the mileage (which I doubt!) you'll have to settle with the new mileage.

mileage is read-only on any car I've plugged mine into

Interestingly (and I suspect this may also be the case with pugs), VAG clocks can be easily changed as long as the mileage on the clocks is under 100 miles or something like that
