Had a cheeky bid on some new Spax lowering springs the other day, and was winning them at £20
Someone else popped a bid in and went to £21

The bidding was, according to ebay, finishing at 10.35 this morning.

Rahter than inflate the price, I thought i'd pop a bid of £40+ in with a couple of mins to go, and still have chance to make amends if the other person had bidded higher.
Only problem was I was on the road - So stopped off and logged on tinternet on my phone, only to find ebay was 3 mins ahead of me - my time was synchronised the other day. Well, instead of giving me 5 mins to get the bid in, I had 2 mins, but have you ever tried to log onto ebay in a hurry on your phone?
Anyway, by the time it had logged me in, the springs had finished, and some lucky git has got some brand new spax lowering springs for £21

Ah, well, as I put new springs on only 2 months ago and still riding high, i'll have to stick with the pug 4x4 ride height for a bit longer

Doing anything with modern phones seems frustrating to me :x

I've just aquired a Samsung Tocco Ultra and it is really *really* badly crap, you have to use the touch screen for some things and even my 14 year old son can't get on with it

Shame about losing out though. I've never had the pleasure? of bidding for anything on ebay, don't even have an account :|

I guess that the user has a secret account set up so they can bid higher and see how high you will go. I put a £1 bid on a HID kit knowing well it would go up. A few days later the price was the same. Ten hours left in the auction, I thought I might get it for around a fiver. Outbid. Place bid of £6. Outbid. Place bid of £10. Outbid.......................Place bid of £25. outbid. I left it there.

The thing sold for £30 plus postage of £20. Thats nearly more expensive than the buy it now price. It doesnt make sense.

Big eBay tip:

DON'T BID UNTIL THE LAST 30 SECONDS. It's pointless. You just inflate the price - which is bad if you end up winning the item. Just have a new browser window ready with a bid in place.

Also, smart phones: Blackberry Storm kicks ass. I love my Storm, it's very user friendly; the interface is very intuitive, and it does absolutely everything I'd want it to, and more. It's great on battery life, has proper voice-recognition based dialling, built-in Bluetooth for handsfree calling and streaming audio, and is still small and light enough to hold and talk on without feeling like you're holding a brick.

You don't need a stylus for the touch screen - you type by putting your finger against the screen to highlight, and then you push the screen in til it clicks in order to actually select. So when you're texting or writing an e-mail, you have an on-screen QWERTY keyboard with touch-responsive typing. I type faster on this than any of my colleagues can on their iPhones.

You also don't need to be a corporate Blackberry user to use it for e-mail - you can send and receive mail from your web-based e-mail accounts wherever you go. And it's really simple to set it up.

AND, the new version of the Storm has built-in WiFi also.

I got a trial program once called bid sniper I think, it basically bid for you with seconds to spare.
Was good, but never bought enough stuff to justify buying the program though.

I normally just bid with 30 seconds to spare, but this was ending at 10.35 on tuesday, so couldn't just do that.
When I bought the leather steering wheel for the car, I just sat up until it finished, and job done.

I guess these things that end whilst everyone is at work is good for the buyer as less chance of someone else sitting there trying to do the same.

Ah, well, I'm probably getting too carried away anyway, as well as the paint that is being done at mo, i've got to finish putting the leather in, and at same time try and figure out what to do with the different pre-tensioner plugs and how to sort, then fit the steering wheel.

Should of just come clean with the misses and got her to sit in front of the pc and do the bidding for me :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

oooh, estate or mere-mortal car? How high does it ride? Does it handle the same?

(if you get the answers right, you might have a buyer for your springs when you get some newer ones ;))

mere-mortal
They just needed to settle at first, but I expect you may be 10mm higher than an older car where the springs have done a lot of work.

Lost count the number of times I've been sniped by some bugger or another on eBay

I MUST start doing the same and be the winner of all these must have items for once :supafrisk:
