Yeah it pretty much fell to pieces.

Do you know if the drivers door is the same on an estate as the saloon? Im trying to find a silver drivers door and struggling!

Yes, the only difference is whether it's got reinforcing or not (which you won't see anyway)

Yeah thats what I thought. I love my 406 aswell, and now its gonna have dents and scratch marks and all sorts :(

i have the absolute worst luck with cars. as i speak im just off out to pay a parking fine because, believe it or not, £3200 a year isnt enough for my university so they fined me for not paying £1 an hour to park up for 15 minutes to hand in an essay, so now ive gotta fork out £40.

Oh arse indeed :( :(

Are you third party and was it your fault? what's happening with the other car envolved?

Well we agreed not to elevate it to insurance simply because its superficial damage and im too young to be making claims willy nilly. However, an audi that saw the whole thing stayed to talk to the man after i left, and as i was leaving a police car on the other side of the road went past and he had a good rubberneck, but i dunno if he went to chat to them, but we didnt exchange details or anything like that, figuring we'd just sort it ourselves.

this is what happened:

If you didn't exchange details then you must have concluded it was a 50/50 blaim I suppose.

If the other guy appeared ok with it all then you'll probably hear no more about it but if he goes home and has a re-think he may give your reg number to his insurance who may then contact you about it (they'll only need the reg). It's not worth telling porkies though, be up front about what was discussed and agreed and they will be much more helpfull. Even if it does go through the insurance I think it would be unlikely to affect your policy if it's a small claim like this.

It may be worth considering speaking to your own insurance co. about a 'possible claim' (you might wanna get some advice though first) some insurance companies don't like claims coming out of the blue when they were not notified beforehand and may not cover the cost. Again, be honest and say what happened and what was agreed and the fact you don't necessarily need your car fixing etc.

Just my thoughts and not trying to frighten you off.

Bad luck mate, I think you hit the nail on the head with "Oh Arse!" still it could have been so much worse in so many ways,
chin up bud, remember what doesnt kill you makes you stronger, I think that applies to motors too :cheesy:

Looking at the image in the other thread it looks a lot more like the fault of the 'Man' to me - his insurance should be repairing your car!!
