hello all, is it possible to adjust the rear bumper to the side about 2mm, with the boot closed the bumper sits 2mm to the left so
i was wondering if i could just slacken the bolts at the back and nudge the bumper to the right 2mm then tighten it back up,
i dont think the sides would be affected cos at sum point its been knocked over to the left anyway
pic below should explain better, can you see the bumper doesnt sit inline with the boot lid , the boot lid is in the center there with the car so it has to be the bumper , i know the boot lid is high on the right its not been adjusted yet (its a new boot off a different car)
but my old boot was the same, smaller gap on the right, you can see the arrows in the photo,

Obviously not

I guess it depends how much space there is for the fixing bolts, you could try slackening them off and giving it a push but you might end up having to take it off and turning holes into slots with a round file.

its not important really, just been looking at D8's on ebay and a lot seem to have the same problem as mine - boot has gone right , weird ,
will try the bumper when its sunny

its just all starting to p**s me off tho, new boot sits higher on the drivers side, cant get it to sit flush, ive tried adjusting it all ways with the 2 bolts and it still wont sit flush
this is the only time in the 2 years ive owned the 406 that i am begining to hate it

Maybe it's like my BX - you need a special tool to bend the hinges to get it to sit straight

i was thinking of bendin the hinge inside the boot were the fold bar connects to ?
ive had a look under the back and they seem to fix were the speakers are on the shelf,
do you think its possible to just bend it down so it sits lower ?
im begining to think i should scrap it and buy a D9 rapier (would be nice but ive spent a lot of time and effort on this D8)

well after 1.5 hours i've finally got the boot lid centered
its still not 100% cusha but,,,,,,,,,, its defo an improvement and im back on the happy road
it turned out to be the boot lock mechanism, when the boot closed to the bottom it was dead center with the rear quaters and clusters
but,,, when the boot lid was fully closed i noticed that the lock were it meets the metal thing that clamps it down wasnt meeting up inline with each other so it was pushing the boot to the right 2mm ,
thanks for the replys steve
