on my w reg estate (d9) the rear drivers door has gone stiff all of a sudden and you cant just fling it shut. it has to be pushed to.

is it that the hinges need attention, or the check strap?

Check strap, catch, hinges... I can't tell from here but would be worth oiling things one at a time to see what makes a difference.

Just as an afterthought, I bought some spray grease the other day and sprayed all my locks, straps and hinges and suddenly shutting them sounds much less like the "clang!" of a soul-less Japanese dullmobile...

It would be worth cleaning all the old crap off first and starting again with a nice clingy greasy/silicony stuff.

My back doors were always like this and oiling them seemed to make little difference :? it was bad enough that my kids couldn't close them from inside the car, like they were stuck open.
