Hi all is it hard to remove the front door from a D9 as it looks a pain and am hoping i dont have to remove the wing can i just do it with a spanner, and last but not least what size is the bolt that holds on the door.

if its the same as a d8 its a simple job.4 bolts on the hinges 13mil, one door check arm [2 torx bolts],remove door wires and job done.
it might be a idea to use a jack to support the door if you doing it yourself.
no need to remove wing

Oh cool one last question are the hinges also bolted to the doo and is it easier to remove hing from the door or the hinge from the chassis itself.

its easier to remove the door bolts i found and leave the hinges in place.

set the door down on a blanket so the paint isnt scraped.

I have been told that removing the hinge pin is best because its easier to get the door back on ,rather than unbolting the hinge from the door or chassis because of lining things up for proper opening /closing especially when doing it on your own .

i could agree, put the window down so its easy lifted. I have taken the doors off my suzuki so many times that it can be done in less than 2 minuites, i plan to install gate hinges in it so it can be removed simply by lifting it up, because driving with no doors is something everyone needs to have a go at.

I am thinking of purchasing a rear door nearside off ebay.

It seems to come with glass.

My plan is:

- Take old door off. Undo bolts and electricals. Not sure if new one comes with hinges.
- Use jack to help stop old door falling
- Take door card, lock mechanism, leccy window mechanism out of old into new
- Fit new door, jack in same position, do bolts and electricals. Adjust bolts so it closes.
- Check it locks / unlocks, check windows.

Any other tips?

I'm just imagining you balancing the door on a jack and trying to hold it stable with your foot while you're trying to fit the hinges - CLANG! Next!. You really need a hand or two with that.

It is possible to do on your own, the rears are easier because the doorloom just unplugs, On the fronts you have to unthread everything from the door, right PITA
Forget about using a jack though, use your toolbox or similar and build it up to the same height as the base of the door.
