the bonnets are different the D8 has 2 catches as I believe where as the D9 only has 1

The bonnets are 90% different.
Yes, the Mk1 has two catches. Where the Mk2 only has one.
There is also the shape of the forward edge to think about. The Mk2 has longer headlights and a smaller profiled grill. The Mk1 bonnet will not accomodate these.
