i found a water leak from the body work into the boot. may be worth checking yours
on the 1st pic you can see the white bit right at the side of the boot seal , this is the old flexi seal thats gone hard and bristle and is now letting water past
the 2nd and 3rd pictures are arrowed , these arrows point to a metal flap inside the boot, it must be were the boot meets the rear quater
water is getting in there and running around the flap (arrowed) and into the boot

Thats were mine was leaking from too
ireplaced the seal with one from a breaker it asnt leaked since.
ihad a Duck pond in the Wheel well, and the cD changer was full too the top with water

this isnt leaking from the boot seal mate,
its leaking through the body seal that kind of welds the 2 metal sections together,
it must be the point were the cross section meets the quater ..
when you replace seal did you remove the boot lid to do it in 1 peice ?

Nah mate ididnt re-move the boot lid -ijust stretched it over.
didnt have any problems getting it on or the old one off,
