Roof bars on saloon...

Hi guys,
This is my first post here so be gentle! I am picking up my 1999 406 saloon tomorrow which I will be using for work (handyman) and I need to put roof bars on it. There are no gutters or strips on the roof so I'm guessing the only fitting point will be in the door apertures? My current Citroen ZX uses this system and the clamps pinch the door rubber so when it rains it leaks! Does the 406 have clamping points behind the door rubber like some other cars, and if so does this mean usually the clamps don't lead to leaks?

Any help much appreciated! :cheesy:

Mike.

Thanks Steve- was gonna go for a cheaper set up to be honest, but thanks for the link.

I was just unsure how the clamps would fit... i.e will they pinch the door rubber.

Cheers, Mike.

i had a set of genuine peugeot 406 roof bars, they fit into the 2 bolt holes on each door
the rubber sits over them perfectly

think i paid £32 on ebay. they was brand new in the box

The Halfords ones fit pretty well, you put a screw above each door behind the seal (there's a sticker over the screw hole ) & the brackets hook onto these.
It never leaked while I had it fitted (borrowed from a friend)
