Front Wing Removal

Hi guys,

As you know, my old saloon suffered at the hands of White Van Man last year. I need to sell her on, but I want to MOT her first.

I am unable to find a suitable replacement wing at present, and a replacement indicator wouldn't fit on to the wing in its current dented state. So what I thought about doing was taking the wing off the car, and gently persuading the wing to go more-or-less into the right shape.

Does anyone have a guide for removing the wing from the car?

this should be clear for you.

remove wheel and arch liner is the 1st job. then you can easy access all these bolts .

Thanks guys

I'll perform some kind of sun dance ritual and maybe I'll get a few hours on the weekend where it won't be pissing down, and I can give this a go.

garys guide is as good as it gets, funny though i pulled 2 wings off that car of mine, and despite rusty bolts it was easy. The wheel liner needs to come off. And i found it easier with the headlight off. And id advise you put lots of waxoyl in there.
I have a drivers wing in reasonable nick, it does have a dent which i attempted some do it yourself panel beating and its less dented than it was. Plus some scratches.

Less dent, more scratches

Just think how many "how to"s you could be making as you strip that thing!

I did give gary a good how to on removing the seatbelt from the a pillar through Private messaging, i suppose i should get it and show it to the world.
But Id thought someone has already done a wing how to, although with the knoledge of how to pull most bits off i hope i can give better contributions.

So for a bit of good info. The wing along the side of the door, has 3 bolts one at the top which is acessed when the door is open. then the other 2 are accessed when the wheel liner is off. On the bottom of the wing there is a bolt that needs taken out with a spanner. Now the middle bolt that can be accesed from the inside is the one that causes your door to buckle a bit when the wind catches it, if your putting it back in, id advise you pop another washer in place so the bolt doesnt potrude so much and hurt the door. Go crazy with waxoyl when the wings off.
