Peeling Lacquer

My rear left door has more lacquer peeling off, its always been 'the bad door' but the lacqer seems to be coming off a bit more at the moment. There is also a few small dents.
How much is it normally to get the door relacquered, and i suppose the dings sorted out. Is there many rhodes blue doors about cheaper than the cost of a repair.

Your probably better off hunting down a mint door in your colour its a lot less hassle. ive been cleaning my car at work with the steam cleaner and made my peeling lacquer problem a lot worse, but i figure il have the lot stripped off after a few more weeks

the door must have been resprayed at one time, the rest are all ok

frank your probably looking at a full door respray not just a laquer spray.

were the edges of the laquer has peeled off they will need to be soothed down. and thats impossible without going onto the colour.

The paints ok, but i see where your coming from. But its not so bad, ill take it to damage repair place near me and they can spray the door, and the bootlid which has a big drip of paint on it, they did a good job on my uncles golf.

this door and ive checked it carefully has not a single spec of rust, just a few small dings.

frank i had this on my old boot lid. i carefully used my thumb nail and scraped all the loose laquer away and you can loose the look of it if you know what i mean.

i mean once you have scraped it all away its hard to see were it is missing.

this affects my car on this door and the rear bumper round by the badges only

I managed to fix it on my Bernard. You need to peel away all the loose laquer. Then sand the edge of the laquer into the base coat. You need to be really carefull you don't go through the paint. Then use abit of compound to polish out the sanding marks.
You could see the end of the laquer but it wasent peeling. Only noticable if you were up close to it.

but it just seems this door has got worse, its always been bad, but im in no rush to sort it out. I wont be doing any painting to it because i would balls it up, better to get a professional to do it and then they can stand over their work, at least good painters offer a guarantee on their work.

And this is what happens when you use washing up liquid and sponges to wash your car. I can't imagine Automatic car washes heliping either

but i dont, since i got my car i have only used water to clean it out of the tractor powerhose. its only went to the car wash once.
But i think the previous owner had a go with t cut there was residue all over the place.

It's just bad spraying, there's too long been left between the colour coat and the lacquer being sprayed over it so it's not stuck to it.

If you think you've got problems, the paint's doing that around my l/h indicator repeater and on the sill. Damn bodgy respray

all that sandy dust over your car wont do it any good either.

it does look bader than i thought, thats a lot of laquer peeling for a 2002 motor

The rear bumper and that door, is it.
I think at some time these parts have been resprayed.
