Noticed spreading surface rust at the very bottom of the rear passenger door (inside only). Estimate from a paint shop £3/400 or thereabouts ("door needs to come off"etc). Did the job myself with a power drill and wire attachment. First removed limited strip of the seal for access (did not bother to renew that). You can never get every last spot of rust off but managed 95%+. 2 coats of rust preventer followed by 2 coats of hammerite silver. No sign of rust 2 years on. Well worth having a go yourself - as I think Gary said back in January. May not be a pretty sight but provided the job is well internal it won't notice. If a professional does the job, you can never be sure he got 100% of the rust off anyway! Main thing is to keep rust at bay.

in the mean time from doing the job it might be a good idea to try and source a 2nd hand door in good nick.

Tried repainting on mine, but mine were rusting externally, and no-one seemed to be able to match the KMWC paint code correctly.

Tried to source a new door for the rear which was the worst affected. No-one locally had one in that colour or had any interest in checking the paint code.

Ordered one off the internet and the couriers used it as a huge frisbee, opened up the packaging and the corners were all curled in buckled and dented, paint broken.

After the initial sanding, rust removing and rust-resistant primering, and painting with the wrong shade of blue last summer, after the winter the rust was back worse than before. It never goes away, just comes back.

For a 2002 car it was actually something of a disgrace that Peugeot couldn't be bothered rust proofing. Really off-putting.

mine only had that rust scab under the back seat bench, even then it wasnt deep i sanded it down, applied rust remover, then more rust remover, cleaned the area and then painted it over with 3 coats of galve paint.
