electric window mechanism

Post by kev1839 »

Hi Guys,
Anyone had experience in replacing the front window mechanism in the 406 ? mines the electric version ( as most are ) need to renew the actual working parts ( cables etc) see on flea bay that kits are available for 14 quid or so . easy enough to get the whole lot out the door just wondered if any one had tried to renew the parts before or had just replaced the whole thing ?? my mate tried to do it on a partner van, reckoned it was a nightmare , got a second hand unit from the scrappy in the end. What's your views guys ??

they are a pain
one of the bad bits is taking the mount of the bottom of the window.you need 10 inch hands to each
also theres a runner/pully wheel near the top of the door that is also hard.
good luck

To save Lozz the bother - don't waste your time/money on a rebuild kit, they're wank. Get one from the breaker's, watch out though 'cos there's a couple of different ones.

No you don't.

I'm sure I posted these a while back... Not really enough detail but perhaps worth looking at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14129&p=130953&hilit=+pinch#p130818

Yep, it's the old D8/D9 thing at chassis number VF39xxxxx80800000, the driver's side is a different part number altogether (for D8s it depended if it was just electric or sequential, for D9 there can be only one), the passenger side went from a choice of anti-pinch or not on the D8 to anti-pinch only (with same part number) on the D9.

Sounds harder than a Laguna then

Had to do both the fronts on my dads 2001 Laguna in past 12 months or so, and I managed to get the second one down to 15 mins including picking and dropping his car off
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

2007 Mondingo Zetec - I seek forgiveness :( Bring back my 406
