Rear 1/4 window bar

Post by FarmerPug »

I got the back windows tinted today, they look good but the bar for the 1/4 window on the rear door had a few spots of rust and with the black windows it was more evident, i have sanded the part down back to bare metal with sandpaper, then realised that i dont have any primer, so its left like this:

Is there any special type of primer or paint that should be used here?

The other side is matt black.

It is dark outside now, but not too dark just a medium tint.

Sanded down the bar, to be extra careful i parked the car in the shed and maked it off a bit more :cheesy: :

I got some primer which claims to keep rust away, and sprayed 4 coats on, giving a 10 min break in between each coat:

Then after a 1hr wait, sprayed on the black paint, 4 coats were used here, same 10mins between coats, then let it dry for an hour:

The finished thing:

That looks great FP I'm glad you went for a sensible tint i.e. not too dark and the repair on the window bar was well done

No, that's fine - just need to keep it under wraps long enough to avoid any latent overspray, which could be hanging around in the atmosphere.

If the building's unoccupied it should be fine by xmas, you can halve that if you're filtering it via your lungs.
