2000 HDI Executive - Door Mirrors - Flat or Convex ?

Discuss the 406's Bodywork stuff in here (what parts fit what, what can be interchanged with what etc etc).

2000 HDI Executive - Door Mirrors - Flat or Convex ?

Post by trufflehunt »

Hi

I've got a 2000 HDI Executive, with exterior passenger side mirror glass partly smashed.

Looked in the handbook, and it says....

".. The exterior mirror on the driver's side is convex * (* according to specifcation ) in
order to eliminate the 'blind spot'. As a result, objects observed in the mirror are in
reality closer than they appear..".

It didn't say anything about the passenger side. And when I've looked in both mirrors,
I can't really see much difference.

Last night I asked a seller on eBay whether his mirror was flat or convex. He replied that
it was convex, and that all genuine Peugeot 406 mirrors are convex, and that only the cheap
ones for sale are flat.

Is this true?

And are Executive mirrors heated as standard, or....?

On mine: on the driver's side there is a vertical dotted line, and the part of the mirror to the right of the line is convex. The passenger side mirror is normal; it does not have the dotted line, it is flat.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

That sounds like a replacement :? Service Box makes no distinction

There are non-heated mirrors but an exec should have them.

Exterior mirror on my car has that vertical dotted line on the drivers mirror,
and nothing on the passenger side mirror.

my D8 has plain flat mirrors, both D9s have the convex blind spot ones. That might just mean that the d8 is a replacement tho.

no, flat on the passenger side on all 3. But htere might be a dotted left hand drive one to be found?

Thanks for that. Looks like its flat and heated for the Executive passenger side then.
