Most 406s were born in the Sochaux plant.
The 406 Coupes all came from Pininfarina's plant in San Giorgio Canavese, in Turin, Italy.

They must do, where it is will probably depend on the age of the car. Or you could just put it into Service Box and it'll give the RPO in "characteristics"

Can I be a typical woman and ask what is a strut and is it definitely painted in yellow?
I am interested to find out about Miss Pug

A strut is a shock absorber.
Open bonnet, follow middle of each wheel upward to under the bonnet, at the top of each inner wing will be 3 torx bolts, the yellow paint will be around one of the top strut mountings....the 3 torx bolts.

Isn't the build code normally on a sticker on the driver's door pillar, along with the tyre pressures?

I'm not sure, I know it is on D9s but the one on my D8 was missing. I'm fairly sure the paint code is only on the label on D9s anyway.

Oh yes, someone did that for me

I found the build number and put it in that site that was given: I must of f*cked up some where as it's come up as yellow

Pulsar Yellow to be precise. LOL
My build code is 5 numbers / 2 numbers / 1 number / 4 numbers
Can you see where I got confused?

That won't tell you the paint colour, that's elsewhere in the characteristics. Pulsar Yellow is the default.
Sonia406 wrote:My build code is 5 numbers / 2 numbers / 1 number / 4 numbers
5 numbers = RPO (the important bit)
2 numbers = Plant code
Dunno what the rest is, it probably means something but I've never been interested enough to ask.

This is the sticker from my D9:

Near the bottom is the build code again (0989189), the first five numbers are the RPO and the last two are the plant code. The paint code is that EXLD** which isn't on that link you posted but as far as I remember is Obsidian black metallic and perlescent (that's the two * s)
