Remove Door Card - BSI Reset...?

Post by trufflehunt »

Driver's side door card has been rattly for a while on my HDI Exec.

I've tried various things.., evostik to glue the edge to the door.
Also No-More-Nails strips. To no avail. They all come loose.

So have now got some new door clips from the local dealer, as they seem to be the problem.

To remove the door card, I've got to remove some of the electrical things.., mirror and window controls.

Can I just remove the connectors from the switches...,or do I need to do all the disconnect battery..,
lower the window.., leavefor 15 minutes BSI things..?

You dont need to disconect the battery,

istipped out a full interior incl door cards on the 1st 406 ihad and didnt take the battery off,
didnt have a problem afterwards,

putting the new clips in the doorcard is awkward, you may have to trim the clips slightly to get them in place on the door cards
and you may have to break the old ones out,

No problem with the battery. The pukka clips are a weird shape, you stick one end into the hole in the door card and then turn the whole thing into it, like a screw.

Thanks for both.

Should be a lot simpler now.

All done.., door card now secure with new clips fitted.

I was just thinking though...

Back in 2008, I paid £20 for a Peugeot 405 TD saloon. It had moon-journey miles on the clock, literally,
about 290,000 as I remember. Anyway, it ran fine, just needed a 'new' part-worn tyre, plus a few other fairly
little things doing.

The car seemed basically quite well put together.., 18 years old, hardly any squeaks and rattles.
Gave me 2 years hppy motoring, till the clutch went, and I sent it on its way.

Is it my imagination, or is the quality control, or materials, on the 406 not so brilliant ?
