Scratched Windscreen

Using a crappy scraper through the winter has left quite a few scratches in my windscreen, does anyone know good cheap methods/products to remove them?
The low sun in the morning really shows them up and they're quite distracting.

I've found quite a bit of info on detailing sites about glass scratch removal but to be honest by the time I've bought the kit it would be cheaper to pay the excess on a new screen!

Might be best to 'stage' a new stone-chip bullet hole and have it replaced for new :supafrisk:

If there is a magic fix I'd like to know because I got a little stone stuck on the wiper blade which sent an 'arc' right across the screen :x

It really depends a lot on the depth of the scratch. I've done quite deep scratches on my side window with 1000-grit wet sanding paper and rubbing compound.

The professionals use 1000-3000 grit paper and rubbing compound. You don't need a kit, their stuff is not really special except for the expensive electrical tools that makes the job a lot faster
