just been looking at Wolfrace Kendo 17"alloys for £589 off halfords would they look good on an estate

The 406, IMO, suites any normal grey/silver alloys that are multispoked. Anything over 5 spokes and they look the bomb.
I've seen 406s on 3 and 4 and 5 spokers and they simply look gash.
Its the styling of the car. Multispokes (5 and above) compliment the lines and size.
The Kendos might look good.

I agree, the more spokes the better I have standard 16" 9 spokes on my estate and I think they look great, just don't fill the arches, had 17" OZ Superturizmo on a scorpio I had, think they are one of the best designs around

If you go to Woolfrace website it lets you see how the wheels look on a 406 or any other car

Summat's wrong with that site; they do some potentially nice looking wheels but they all look comically bad on the 406 estate and coupe on the little demonstrator thing

tried putting a ".com" after the company name, or putting the name into Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc?
