I crashed my car.... AGAIN!

OK I am a klotz.... Yesterday, travelling back to my parents I decided to hit a patch of ice on the corner and spin out of control into a hedge... again. Aaaahhh! I am getting worse than James here!

OK, there is some damage to front bumper, which I think needs replacing as the plastic to the right of the number plate is all cracked :-( Looking on fleaBay, the bumpers are not very expensive (£35) but how much will it be to have it resprayed in my car's colour??

Also, there's a ding on the front of the bonner - maybe the size of 5p coin, but I dont think that justifies a new one! I am sure ChipsAway type people will be able to fix that. It's that the bumper that's bother me.

Ahhhhhhhhh......... I am an idiot..... Maybe I should just buy a coupe and be done with it!

Well, if tomorrow's snow is anything like what is promissed you might not be the first casualty Captain

Your bumper will cost about £200.00 to spray (properly). I've just had my back bumper resprayed (courtesy of the MOT garage) and that cost £150.00 and that was 'on the cheap' because one of their other customers was having to pay for it.

OK well, was sunny enough today to go out and properly assess the damage... and it's worse than I thought

Some questions! The ding on the bonnet looks easy to repair. I think it HAS gone through the paint, but I am sure that can be fixed without replacing it.

Then I think the whole of the bumper needs to be changed due to quite a lot of damage here and there - as well as the grill thing where the badge is.

Also, looking under it, I noticed some pipes were bent I think these are coolant pipes. They are not leaking, but in one place it's pretty badly bent and I think it would need replacing.... Is that a big job?

The bumper can be repaired, if you can find a workshop that'll do plastic welding. But if you can pick one up for £35 and the say £50 to get it sprayed, might as well go down that route. The bonnet and grille can be done by someone like chips away for about another ton. As for the underneath damage, shouldn't be that expensive.

As for the pipes I'm not expert, but they look OK to me if they're not leaking. I'd give them a clean, take the paint off, and re-spray just to keep corrosion at bay though.

those pipes are the PAS coolant pipes, i fooked these on my car by getting some 'air'
they will leak and at the worse possible time, i bypassed mine, basically, at the opposite side to where you took that pic is where the pipes come in, they are both rubber, unclip the plastic cooler pipes, very messy , and get a 180 degree pipe that will fit inside the rubber pipes, then hose clip it on and top up the PAS, i did this to mine and its been fine since

Hmm, I will be replacing my bumper soon, so maybe a good time to do the PAS pipes. If I get rid of them, doesn't that mean that cooling will be less efficient?
