Aero Wipers?

Post by DaiRees »

Right, what's the score with these new fangled "aero" wiper blades then? the ones that most new cars have got....

ImageImage

- Are they any good?
- Are they better than the more traditional blades?
- Can they be fitted to our 406s? (I mean I'm sure they can, but would you need new arms or can you get them with fittings for the existing arms? :? )

I've looked on eblag but can't find anything....

I could do with new blades and quite fancy a set of them :D

you can buy a bosch retro fit kit of ebay
i think these are brilliant they last about 60,000 miles and dont lift at speed and clear the screen soooo much better, i had a crack at modifying some volvo ones to fit my 406 but they never sat on the screen properly so they went in the bin, but if you get the proper ones you wont look back 8)

Hi all....I have had a set of these on my 406 since last autumn, and would never fit the "traditional"type again I am that pleased with them, apart from the fact they look really neat and unobtrusive(they are MUCH less visible, from inside or outside).
My supplier was http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.php?cat=628 ,and I ordered the Retrofit series,1 of each (l&r) size.
They are a very good firm, have had lighting from them too,+ you get a freebie gift too (see home page).
The blades just clip on to the "U" bracket, and as extra security,I put a mini (black) cable-tie round it to make it harder for any would-be thieves (almost invisible).
Cheers , Kevin , Essex

They don't lift at speed? Wow I've got to get me some. What's the blade sizes on the406? :)

Shame there doesn't seem to be anything that fits on the back of an estate other than the OEM ones as they're crap :(

I think it's 24" on the drivers side and 22" on the passenger side.

I like the sound of these, but they'd cost nearly £30 for a set for the coupe (26" & 20"), so I may just stay put for the time being.

Aye, £31ish for the non-coop too. Think I might just get the drivers side one first to see how it goes. Doubt it'd look odd anyway given the standard drivers side ones have a useless spoiler and the passenger side doesn't.

Ordered a pair of these this afternoon. Hope they fit ok.

Reckon the 16" one could be botched into fitting on the back of an estate?

What a coincidence... I've been looking at getting me a pair of these for myself!

For ref... Drivers side is 24", passengers is 22"

What make you getting guys?

Sorry Bosch don't do these as yet.
There are some cheap ones around but i would suggest waiting to see what bosch or valeo come up with.
I do carry a range of the budget ones & also valeo ones. These are not listed in ref book, hence cheap ones probably no good to you. I may be able to find which blades will do the job in valeo. There are 3 different part numbers for the 24 inch blade so have to work correct one.

Just about certain.

Cost for valeo £30 + £3.25 recorded delivery postage.

I do have stock and if you want them i can post in a couple of days.I need extra day to be 100% certain which one of the 3 blades it is for drivers side.

I do have them all in stock along with a cheaper brand if you prefer.

Personally i don't really want to sell them as i know there are big problems in the cheaper brands and i don't know(yet) which ones are not correct.

Both Bosch & Valeo were about a year later than planned because of problems.

Kind Regards

Rog
....so I havent bothered getting them yet 'cos I really wanted Bosch ones. If anyone's got part numbers..... 8)
