Did someone crash into me?

Today I found some very odd scratch marks as if someone crashed into me....

What do you make of this and how can I get rid of them? T-cut?

That definitely looks like someone nudged you.

How deep are the scratches, do they catch when you run a fingernail across them?

If they're shallow, a bit of cutting compound followed by polish should be able to get them out. If they're deep enough to have gone through the paint and primer, you need to patch up the paint first, or get a respray.

I think the mystery has been solved. My girlfriend has apparently been 'resting' the door of her car on mine every time she gets in... Hence the nice straight line of scratches.

They don't look too deep but you get the white part of paint (primer?). There are no actual dents/dings - just the paintwork.

So that's taken the clear coat and colour coat off?

Partners tend to 'help' don't they?

Mrs Doggy used to vacuum my cars out once upon a time and only blew 2 sets of speakers trying to listen to the audio at the same time......

She also has an endearing habit of smacking her walking stick on the sills so as not the get snow on the mats.

If that was my missus she'd say I was parked 'too close' forcing said door-resting practice and therefore being my fault entirely.

I've just discovered a similar scratch on my passenger side door, luckily it's just superficial damage.

How other people can be so blatantly inconsiderate towards other people's cars, I have no idea. I'm sure they would be absolutely livid if someone were to scratch their precious car.

Most women don't care about their cars....

When I had my last A4 I was parked in asda car park, this woman kept coming up and opening the door of her car into the side of mine (while I was sitting in it) she did this four times. She didn't even say sorry. So I opened my door of the catch, accidentely put my foot at the bottom of it and pushed it open into the side of her Yaris, got out and said "at least I had the decency to apologise" lol

I had exactly the same thing. Some ditzy opened her car's door into mine with some force and didn't even flinch. Stupid cow.

I remember that happening to my mum's car while I was waiting in it, aged about 12. Pick up shopping, open door, *clonk*, repeat. I remember being bit miffed about it because I liked the car but I didn't know what to do about it. Next time I happened I was a bit older and I had a fag lighter with me (not smoking then, just a pyromaniac), front door open *clunk*, back door open *clunk*, take little bastards shopping. The thumbwheel on a flint lighter has some very sharp edges

More recently I parked the D9 in a small car park I'd never used before, it was only there 10 minutes but when I came out it was obvious some arsehole had parked along side it, opened their door wide and actually carried on pushing when they hit my driver's door  Then they'd buggered off sharpish. Most of it polished out but there's still a slight fold. I've never even been in that car park since.

As for trolley dings, it's surprising what sharp edges those trolleys have, I've used the yoyo as a stop a couple of times and even a light impact leaves some nasty scratches.

There was a funny story on the Volvo forum of a lad who sat in his old 940 and had the same thing happen; bloke in the car next door kept catching his (this lad was waiting for girlfriend to return)..... he wound the window down and asked if the other bloke could stop doing it.....got a load of sh*t back off him....so he opened his own door and repeatedly smashed it as hard as he could into this guys motor  .......who went bananas at him.........he opened his door again and rose to his feet...ALL 6' 7" and 18 stone of him :o the other guy jumped in his car and fuxked off sharpish

Happened to me in the car park at the gym, which is also a school (I wish the parents were as well behaved as the children). I opened my window and pointed out that she'd opened her car door into the side of my car and she said "don't start in front of my child". I said "the word you're looking for is 'sorry'". So she went and parked at the other side of the car park then went into the centre and complained about me. So then the manager came out (she'd gone by this point) to see me. Fortunately he wasn't looking for an argument (because by this point I wasn't taking prisoners) and he calmed me down a bit and that was that.

Anyway, any plans to repair it Alex?
(I have a lot needs touching up on mine, but me, paintwork, and anything abrasive isn't a combination that ends well.)

My missus is a real champ when it comes to right and wrong she's awesome; she once saw a woman bump into another car in Asda's crap park and then bugger off and 'hide' in another bay.......my missus tracked her down in the shop....with the owners of the bumped car and left them to negotiate

I'd like to, now that I've also found a small ding on the driver's door as well

What are Dingmaster or Chips Away type outfits like for this sort of work?
