Euro Number Plates

Right my back number plate is knackered, it's delaminated so there's crud getting between the acrylic and the backing. I need a new one.....

I don't want anything illegal, but I always fancied having Euro Plates with CYM (the internationally recognised abbreviation for Cymru, Wales for those of you who don't know :cheesy: ) instead of the GB. I know about half of the number plates on the road these days aren't strictly legal, but I don't want to be in a situation where they suddenly start enforcing this law and I've got to get another new set of plates, or worse yet get fined (up to £1000 apparently :shock: ). So Ive done a bit of homework....

We all know what the standard euro plate looks like...

But I wanted to swap the GB for CYM

Then I found this on the DVLA's website

The Government announced on 28 December 2001 the intention to permit the display of nationalflags and symbols on vehicle number plates. When the regulations are amended they will provide for the voluntary display of the Union flag, Scottish Saltire, Cross of St George and Red Dragon.Football team crests etc are not allowed.
So I reckon I'll go with this....

it looks good but i dont think you can have the writing on the bottom anymore cos its got to have the plate makers postcode so it can be traced back . im not 100% sure but i think i did read it somewhere lol

When I last had plates made for the old 406 and the 306, I had them done in the motor show (it was just before the law came in with having to show the log book, passport and last Thursday's newspaper). Then, I could have whatever I wanted on the bottom, but on the right hand side of the bottom, they said they had to put their name by law.

So maybe you can have a message on the centre, but it has to somewhere display the makers code/name

I like what's at the bottom! I like it a lot! :)

Forget window/bumper stickers, what's the legal situation with shoving a 406oc sticker on our plates (bearing in mind some of us are on pre-century plates)?

TBH I've been pondering an EU reg plate for my trip to Germany. Nice cosmetic upgrade for the car, and I won't have to shove one of those nasty GB stickers on ;)

Hi matey, i had these done by fancyplates.com for £35 all in. They are based in Ireland and you can do it all online with their plate constructor facility. They may not be *ahem* totally legal but i haven't ( touch wood ) had a tug over them yet and i've had the odd volvo with the funky roofrack behind me a few times. :cheesy:

As above, just order a set of almost road legal 'show plates'.

As long as the font and letter spacing is correct the police wont bother you. Police only bother with lettering styles.
