I'm having a problem with water building up in my foglights (d9). Not running water, but condense on the glass. I want them clear and pretty like everything else:)

I had them off, blowdried them and added some silicone to seal them, but the problem returned quickly. Anyone experienced a similar problem or have an idea how to solve it?

I have the same thing in one of mine, I haven't taken it out, haven't got the confidence that i could get it back on properly!

Are they difficult to take off/put back?

Yes, kind of. I did it from underneath, removed the covers (the plastic ones you take off when you change the bulbs) and unscrew the lights. There are three screws, two below (easy) and one above (nightmare). The one above the lights takes forever because there is only just enough room for your hand, and you have to aim blindly. Getting them on again was an equal nightmare:) On some models this might not even be possible, if you have an intercooler there is no space at all, or so I heard.

Some guy at the dealer suggested drilling a small hole to help the water escape, I haven't tried yet but might if nobody has another sollution.

Can't think of any ideas either. What a bout if you left the fogs on for a while (whilts stationary of course, you dont want to look like a fogs on constantly spiv)

Maybe this would dry the inside of the glass off??

i have condensation in one of my fog's and was wondering about drilling a very small
hole in it to let air circulate.... has anybody tried this yet.....

406 Fogs are a bastard to get at. I recently bought a new (pattern) pair via a local seller
on ebay,thus was able to pick them up in person. They fit perfectly,but I got my local garage
who has always looked after my cars to fit them..no problem (for them).
Within 2 days they had their first baptism (5 miles) through rain & spray : guess what,both had misted up
on the inner 1/3 of the glass.
It did clear away eventually the next (dry) day,but considering the good perceived quality of the lights
I was surprised.
However,as I did get a chance to view them before they were fitted,I am now wondering if the small
hole near the bottom,on the back of the unit,covered with a plastic plug which can be taken off thus exposing the hole,(roughly,from memory now as it's impossible to see the backs of the units once installed,about 5mm dia.)would help solve the problem if the units were to be "de-sealed" by taking off the hole-plugs.
It has no connection with the beam adjustment screw also on the back which were spot-on.
Can't take a pic,it would have to be up on a hoist !

As a follow-up,I found this pic of the back of an original Peugeot unit,where if you look at the top-left
of the pic (remember the unit is actually upside-down),go in about 3 inches,and you see the protruding black
cover on the hole exterior-extension. I remember now,it(the hole) actually goes inside into a small cavity which you cannot see when the unit is in the bumper,because it is below the bottom of the interior reflector.
If it is NOT anything to do with condensation,(i'm having doubts now) I would dearly love to know what it IS for.

When I fill my windscreen wash bottle right up to the top the water leaks out of the top of the N/S foglight! How strange is that?

Well Pris sounds like you could do with some holes drilled in your foglight ...
unless this is a pug upgrade where they use the light as a reserve tank for the washer bottle
fooking 406's so nice to drive but jeeeeeeez the headaches they cause if i
ever came across the tw*t that designed it i would shove my hand down his throat and drag his ba*ls
out then make him eat them while he watched me trying to access the fog's

Not far off mate! You can't fill mine right to the top - after the water level reaches so high, it starts pissing it on the floor! Not sure where it happens, but I'm going to guess it's a bad/missing rubber washer between the bottle and the filler pipe thing causing it to run off the side of the bottle. Maybe if I parked the other way round (hefty camber on my street) I'd get a leaky foglamp too
