..... with the chrome grille bit :cheesy: :cheesy: 8) 8)

Right here's what you do.....

Take the 3 clips off the top of the grille, you'll prolly wanna get new ones of these 'cos at least one will break when you try to get them out...
Image

then you'll need to stick a screwdriver through these holes (one either side) and press down on the clip to release the bottom of the grille.
Image
The middle clip is a nightmare, I pulled the top of the grille forward so that I could get my hand complete with a stubby screwdriver down the back, then press the bottom of the badge backwards and ram the screwdriver into the clip from behind to release the catch, then pull the grill forward and it's free....

Offer the chrome bit up to the bumper and carefully mark where the 3 bosses need to go through the bumper. Then you need to grow some balls and drill 3off 5mm holes   No going back now :?
Image

Next thing to do is secure it. It comes with self adhesive pads, and has 3 bosses. I did think about cutting the bosses off the chrome bit and just using the self adhesive pads to stick it on (save having to drill the bumper), but I reckon the corners will lift if you do that.... Peugeot man said you need "star washers" which press over then grip the bosses (item 16 on the EPC diagram). He didn't have any but as it turns you wouldn't have got them on anyway. By the time you've drilled through the outer and inner bumper, it's so thick that there isn't enough of the boss protruding to get a washer onto. So I found some very small self tapping screws that fitted nicely into the ID of the 3 bosses, and fastened these from inside the bumper with washers to spread the load. Word of warning here, I did slightly bulge the front of the chrome bit in one place by driving the screw in too far  . So then used a couple of extra washers as spacers on the other screws.

And there you go, one blinged ride 8)

Dai, I iz jelus man.

Tell me one thing though.....Does the black grill now sit a little higher than before? I can even see in the pics that it looks a bit higher? I would have thought the black grille would 'miss' it's locating lugs top and bottom if it was lifted a bit? how did you get round this?

I might get one and cut the lugs off the back and gob it on with some silicone.

Nah it's all pretty bendy plastic mate, the grille, the bumper, everything! All just "gives" a little bit to accomodate the bling panel. at the point where it goes under the grille it's only like 1mm thick anyway, so no problem.

Like I said though, I reckon if you cut the lugs off the corners will lift, even if you get it to stick there'll prolly be a gap and it wouldn't look as neat. Should have taken a pic before putting thes crews if really :frown: . Get your drill out mate, it doesn't matter 'cos you'll never go back. :cheesy:

I thought that must have been someone we knew :cheesy:

I paid £30.40 for mine from the local stealers, so you got bargain! But eh, one of us had to do it first didn't we 8) :D

The next thing I'm wondering about is changing the annoying bit of chrome on the tailgate, and maybe chroming the horizontal slats of the lower front grille like Bluey's done. What stuff did you use Bluey, and where did you get it?

I likes da bling innit!

But, but....it was all my idea

Maybe some sort of recognition is in order, like '' I would like to fit a Welton chrome strip to my bumper'' yes I would be OK with that yes I would.

I know now that I am going to have to get one, it might be a good thing really - using you lot as guinea pigs until the 'ideal' fixing solution/problems are found then I shall slap one on in no time 8)

Yeah I thought about doing my bottom grille, but thought about putting in some high quality mesh as opposed to chroming stripes and that shite stuff boy racers use.

Dunno though, gotta get my chrome bumper peice fitted first.

Sorry Mr Welton Sir.

Dear Members of the 406oc Community;

It is hereby decreed that as and from this nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord 2007, the chrome bumper grille bling bit shall be known as the "Welton Panel". Your adoption of this terminology henceforth is mandatory, and failure to comply will result in a penalty in the form of compulsory points donation to HRH Welton at the rate of 1000 points per violation. Failure to execute the penalty will be considered justification for much hecking and jeering from other members of the community. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

"The Welton Panel Trailblazer"
