Can anyone tell me if the wing mirror off a peugeot 406 is specific to that model only? I ask because i awoke this morning to a gouge down one side of my volvo and a broken wing mirror. I researched the broken part http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131611034060? ... EBIDX%3AITThis is identical to the one on the floor by my car. The shroud is blue and im guessing that these cars will be quite rare now. also on the inner shroud it is dated year 2000. Im hoping this will be enough information for the police to do a local search

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune, some people don't seem to respect other people or property nowadays :(
Just to put a dampner on your logic, the mirror could be off any Peugeot 406 as they are all the same bar the wiring, and the Blue will be dark metallic ( very common, er, I mean 'popular' ) or darker metallic, which is less common.....

I hope you find the person responsible.

I have already found the a list of peugeot metalic paint codes. The paint is samakan blue which was specific to the 406 and 607. The police were not helpful and dont really want to know. As it stands this will cost me my excess and 5 year NO claims

Okay - Samarkan was also a popular colour, mostly on later 406's but this doesn't really help you much, sorry.

It may be worth getting a price off a local dent fix place rather than go through the insurance - although I suspect it may be a bit pricey :(

I have already started the insurance process and am awaiting a quotation for the repairs. Every panel on the passenger side and both bumpers have bad damage so it needs a professional bodywork job doing. I'm sure the excess will be alot less than the cost of the repairs. The No claims will probably only take me down to 40% no claims from 75%. Its more the hit and run that is getting my back up now.

Must admit, I was under the impression that now, anything other than a pin prick on any 406
would be an insurance write-off.

You're probably right but the OP doesn't have a 406. The 406 was the hit and run car. 8)

It does mean that whoever was driving the 406 that struck the Volvo is probably in a bit of a state.

If I was the OP, I would copy a Samarkan Blue 406 picture from the tinterweb, and advertise it locally as a donor vehicle, all parts available etc - and see if anyone rings for a wing, bumper and mirror..... :supafrisk:
