Old screen, New Screen. Just like that.

The mannie in the Autoglass Express van came round today and brought me a brand new windscreen.

Here are some pics of before, during and after fitting.

The damage I made during a blonde moment:

During the removal and clean up process:

My brand new screen:

The Masking tape will come off in an hour. Its just to assist keeping the screen in place while the bonding sets.
Once it sets I'm off to halfrauds to get some anti mist and rain-x to protect my new screen.

I spy 'Super-Dooper' wipers

Hey Blue, I just thought..............

<Windscreen man> ''Blimey fella, I aint never seen a screen go like this before, not with a stone-chip like''

<Bluey> "Err, yeah, huh huh, erm, mmmm, cuppa tea?"

LOL

Actualy I was quite honest. Then to tease me he pulled out a wiper arm pulling tool which made light work of the passenger wiper arm.
Mental note to self: If replace wiper arm again, invest in proper tool.
The mannie did say that my 6 looked quite fresh for its age. That cheered me up no end :)

Anyway... yes you spied correctly. I'm using those new soopa doopa flat wipers. I'm trialing them to see if they do work.

I'm also trying to figure out how to make Audi/Volkswagen OEM ones to fit as they are of a more substantial build and are far more rigid to apply more wiping power to the blade.

Let me know how they go mate, I'm still thinking about it. Are they the £15 no make or £30 Valeo / bosch?

I use rain-X, only becauae there's no rear wiper on both the coupe or 206cc. It's ok, but not brilliant in my opinion.

Put it this way, I'm still using it, but when the bottle runs out, I won't be buying another one.

I got my rain-x in with a free aerosol can of their window cleaner. Now that stuff is brillaint, the windows look immaculate after using it, but that effect only lasts until the first bird has a go...

.....14 dollops of crap this morning, 12 on the bonnet alone. I wouldn't say so much, but I don't park under telephone lines. I mean, can these creatures aim???

Last week, I was fearing for my life, I thought a tperodactil was somewhere near where i work. I had HUGE bomb of crap on the bonnet.

Have these birds got it in for me at the moment?

just bought a pair of these from maccess (trade only :P ) for £2.20 and i can safely say, they're shite, they dont lift off the screen but they just dont clear it very well for my liking

That reminds me, mine's got a couple of smearing grease patches on it again :( Need to remember to hit it with a bit of fairy liquid before I leave in the morning (best thing every for windscreen anti-smearing!)
