My car has a fair few chips and scratches so I decided to get one of these kits and have a go at touching up the car.
They cost around £10.00 for a 3-part kit containing and appropriately coloured primer, the main colour coat and a laquer coat. The kit also comes with a fibre detail stick for prepairing the chip beforehand and another tiny foam pad to blend the repair (one side is a very fine abrasive so be carefull! the other side polishes/blends gently)
Here, I am using the super-fine brush to repair a scratch, there is also a needle nib on the pen to spot-in stone chips but I prefered the brush. It takes some carefull eye coordination and practice but soon I got the hang of the fine brush and being careful not to dip too much paint. Make sure you shake the pen really really well for metalics.
Here is the repair which I am waiting to second-coat and possibly laquer when it stops raining!
I went over all the worst chips and little scratches on the car and it now looks *loads* better because the marks don't stand out like they did before.
I can certainly recommend this kit.

After using touch up paints for years without success (just blob on the paint with a brush big enough to paint the entire car)I found the Halfords kit several years ago and have used it on several different cars since. They really are excellent and I would consider them the best on the market. Although I couldn't get on with the brush (the fibres are too long for me to hold steady) the pen (full of the correct colour paint) is a piece of genius. You can for the first time ever get the paint exactly where you need it without blobs, brilliant
I've always used a paint brush with all but 5 bristles cut off. I've been told you can use a wire to drip the paint in the chip but I've not tried it yet.

Well, believe it or not Mr. Wig the halfords pen thing IS a piece of wire on the nib end (I was carefull typing that as the 'o' is perilessly close to the 'i') to 'drop' a tincey-wincey bit of colour into the chip.

I used the same kinda kit from halfrauds for my Renault 21 to sort out a few scuffs on the bcolour coded wing mirrors I ripped off of a scrapped one. Worked a charm once I followed the instructions precisely!
