Bugger

It was only a matter of time...

In Lidl carpark (ffs), this guy's stopped outside the entrance (in the normal thoughtless manner) and didn't move all the time I was driving towards the back end of the car park (out of harm's way, haha) until I was in front of him, then he pulled away without looking.

He admitted he was totally at fault, I've heard that one before but it was good enough for my other half and I couldn't get her to help me collar any witnesses. I just hope he doesn't f*ck about. At least I have his address...

The wheelarch is a strange new shape and the wheel's got slightly less paint than it had. There's only a tiny little mark on the bumper that I think'll polish out, I think he bounced off.

People are too busy thinking about their shopping lists to worry about where they're driving :frown:

Terrible thing steve.Hope it gets sorted out. My bro had a similar story not so long ago. The bitch who hit him admitted liablility, then denied it afterwards. Lesson :Always, Always ALWAYS call the cops, even if its only a scratch.

On a lighter note: Doesn't your car look nice and menacing in the first photo. mmmmmmmmmmm

I've never had a car seriously damaged but mysterious injuries appear on the bumpers and obvious signs of carless door opening as well

Been there, got the t-shirt. You're right, I should have insisted on calling the cops, my other half just wasn't interested, maybe things like that don't happen here. I hope not anyway.

I still park the D9 up, look around the carpark and compliment myself on having the best looking car in there :cheesy:

Not really  the black paint shows every tiny splash of mud so it looked filthy to me, fortunatly it doesn't show up on the pics but I still gave it a wash before I took the last pic (spot the hose pipe)
So, you become a public spectacle but no-one helps :frown:
Nobody took much notice, the driving is so appalling here crashes are commonplace.
Me thinks YOU need to drive the claim right through to it's happy conclusion and you collecting a shiney repaired 406 (wouldn't expect any less from you though fella  )...what the like at painting over there? :?
I'll be finding out what the next step is in a wee while, not being too sure of the correct proceedure is in this stupid, bureaucratic quagmire of a country. My first thought was insisting on a new door skin so I thought I'd take it to Pug, then I thought perhaps I wouldn't :frown: There are loads of car repairers around here though (quelle surprise!) and I know a guy a couple of miles from me who's a genius.

Anyway, thanks for the support people, without it I'd be feeling rather traumatized right now. I realise it could have been worse but it still feels like a disaster :(

Well, we 'as bin to HAK (Croatian Auto Club - think RAC, MOT center, insurance broker, garage and any purveyor of bureaucratic f*ck-ups you care to think of, all rolled into one) who said I have to contact his insurers  So we stalked off to the nearest branch where, as usual, my other half knew half of them, pretty useful considering the preposterous forms we, sorry, she had to fill out. It turns out the other guy''s meant to have told them (and given them his half of the accident form that I still have) but it seems like he hasn't bothered, I think that's a plus but I could be wrong.

Now I have to wait for their assessor (no conflict of interest there of course :frown: ) to come and give an estimate for the damage and I should get a wad of cash dumped into my shiney new bank acount. Hopefully.

As an aside, the reason I've only just opened a bank account here is the one I had before was a forign currency account and I got charged for it, plus I got charged for converting the charge into Euros and then into Kuna in order to pay for it  So I binned it in order to have a normal account. But I'm still going to be charged, albeit 3 Kuna a month (32p?) But, believe it or not, this is normal. My other half got upset when I said it was daylight robbery :?
