And so it begins

Post by Blue406 »

My first mod for my coop:

Chrome interior door handles. Half inched from a smashed 04 plate 406 saloon. I couldn't pass up the chance realy, it was the first 406 I've come across on the scrapyard with them, so made short work of removing them.

Fitting them was a little fiddly as I couldn't just go in ham fisted and break things like I did when removing them.

And very nice too. I feel sorry for anyone who jumps in that scrapper 406 and closes the door

Bluey - that's a strange design detail under the door grab handle there's a black plastic stopper :|

Yes, it is.

Limitations of design I think. Theres a bolt there that secures the door card to a bracket, much like on the saloon/estate versions.

I'm thinking of getting grey stoppers and maybe making happy with model paints to kinda camouflage them.

Another suggestion is the D9 rear door handles(manual windows). They look like they would fit in there and they are smooth black handles.

ive done the same in my D9 exec estate, does look alot better than the black handles, even with the wood trim as the heater vents has the chrome accents on the sliders.

all im looking for now is the chrome rings to go round the speedo dials and will be sorted, and yes i am keeping the fake wood as i think it looks better than the chrome ish dash and dor card trims.

I dunno if it's the same for after-market chrome rings but on my real ones, when the lights are on and fuel gauge points straight up it reflects off the perspex back on to the chrome and thence into my eyes, so for a while I get a bright light in the middle of the dash - "wassat? Oh." 5 minutes later "wassat?? Oh." etc.

LOL!

I've been at it again. I just swapped the dash inserts from the matt grey to the ashwood effect from the "Silver and Black" edition coupe.

Very nice 8)
