I did a little wheel refurb on the 406 alloys over the Christmas period but they turned out completelythe wrong colour - i was wondering if any of you know the original paint code for the 406's alloys like the one below - they simply turned out too grey.
Maybe you could match it, quite a few motor factors and paint shops can do that sort of thing.
I seem to remember that anything with "wheel silver" written on it is rubbish, the results usually look like Christmas decorations. I think you're actually looking for some sort of grey.
The standard alloys are just about the most 'silvery' I've ever seen from the factory and they have loads of 'sparkles' in the paint too.
Nowadays they all seem to be dumbing down the silver in favour of 'black chrome' which is a black wheel with and overcoat of silver - like a Civic Type R or an M3 etc.
Just realised this wasn't much help to the lad

Ooh, don't suppose you've got any details on how to do this? Just got some black alloys, and the black chrome effect sounds like it could possibly work.
I had the wheels on my Integra refurbed and was considering black chrome and the guy said it was essentially a black wheel with a silver overlay but I wouldn't be able to advise you how to do it but the principle kinda makes sense to me (plus a good laquer)

I went to the local (small) Halfords to have a look at their paints today, and they've changed the way they colour code them so all the silvers now look more or less the same. I'm going to go to the big one at Team Valley and go through their paint book and choose the silver from there. How many cans did you use? I was thinking 2 cans of primer, 2 cans of colour and 2 cans of lacquer for all 4 wheels.
