wheels and tyres

Post by totaleclipse »

toying with putting a set of 17's on the 406.

they came off a 306, and an initial test fit looked good, BUT the tyres are 205 40 17 and look stupid on the car.

was toying with either 215 45 17 or 205 50 17 (former as i have 2 kicking around, and latter as i can get them cheap)

what size do you guys run if you have 17's on?

I just put some 17" wheels on a few weeks ago, running on 225/45/17, rolling ratio is only 0.6% out so doing 69.98mph when the speedo say 70 (not that the speedo is ever right, mind you)

Its still good, i was worried it would affect it in a negative way but it didnt change too much, feels more solid going round corners although it was very good to start with, but i'm guessing thats where the 225 width helps a bit :cheesy:

Glad i didn't go any bigger although 18's would look very nice, I still need it to be comfy ride as i do about 80 miles a day, this is why i'm not going to lower it although it looks as if it is on stilts, i bought the 406 because i needed something comfy and economical for work but you wouldn't think so with all the things i keep doing to it!

Would 17" peugeot 206 180 vortex fit my 406? I've tried to find the offset of these wheels off peugeot but they couldn't tell me - how crap? the offset of a 406 v6 is 15 to 25 et I heard somewhere, do you or anyone know if the vortex wheels would fit or 406's

(or any of the wheels from 307 or 308's)

any help appreciated - why the hell did pug originally put such crappy 15" wheels on what is otherwise a nice looking motor?
