Try masking the area off, using some carpet tape or gaffer tape (masking tape will get wet and come off when sanded).

Use some wet and dry, maybe start off at 400 or 600 grade, then higher, maybe 800, use washing up liquid in warm water, rub it down carefully until all the high spots are gone and you have a smooth surface.

Dry it off, then try to polish it with good quality shoe polish.

I did this once, didn't get a perfect result, but it looked ok, of course you could get a pro to fix it, there are specialist bumper repairers out there.

Nah, trying to stick to low-cost fixes for the immediate future. Getting closer to the magical pay rise though, now only three months away ^^

Cheers for advice Jasper mate

How easy is it to remove said trim piece? Why not just replace it with one from a scrappers? That'd be my first port of call. Be cheaper and easier than trying to remove the scuff.

Well said, HimBigChief, I completely forgot that piece comes seperate to the bumper.

I priced it up at the dealers, it comes as a complete kit (three pieces, left, right, and centre).

£31-86 + vat ....

If a scrapper will sell you that bit, that's the cheapest answer.

They just lever out with a screwdriver and clip in easily.

Pfffft! A bit of sandpaper followed by some boot polish or a black permanent marker will do :P

Or take a leaf out of my book and just call it "character"
